The story of Olive Oatman, who was captured Mojave Indians in 1851 in New Mexico territory along with her brother, Lorenzo. After 5 years in captivity, she was released. The book includes her personal account and letters about her experience.

(The Oatman family came from the Hancock County area before they headed west.)
